Welcome to Crumbs, a daily storytelling app where you write and share one short story each day. These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Crumbs, operated by [legal name and address of the operator] ("Crumbs", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Crumbs.
How we handle your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Crumbs — or at least 16 if you live in a country (including some EU member states) where a higher age applies to consenting to online services without parental approval. By using Crumbs you confirm you meet this requirement.
You sign in to Crumbs with your Apple account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Choose a username that does not impersonate someone else or infringe anyone's rights; we may reclaim usernames that do. You can delete your account at any time in Settings, which permanently removes your account and stories.
Crumbs lets you publish one story per day, follow other writers, bookmark stories, and build a posting streak. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features as the service evolves. We aim to keep Crumbs available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
You own your stories. Publishing on Crumbs does not transfer ownership of your writing to us.
Licence to operate the service. So that Crumbs can function, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for technical purposes such as formatting), translate (for language detection and display), and publicly display your stories, username, display name, avatar, and bio within the service, for as long as they remain on Crumbs.
Licence for promotion. By publishing content on Crumbs, you additionally grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, and display that content (including excerpts), together with your username, in promotional materials for Crumbs — for example on our website, in social media posts, in App Store materials, or in advertising for the app. We will not sell your stories to third parties for their own use. This promotional licence ends for content you delete, except for promotional materials already created or published while the content was live.
Deleting content. You can delete your own stories at any time, and deleting your account deletes all of them. Deletion is permanent — we do not keep copies for you, so please keep your own copies of stories you care about.
Crumbs is a place for your own writing. You may not publish content that was generated wholly or substantially by artificial intelligence tools and present it as your own work. We reserve the right to remove, without notice, any content that we determine — in our reasonable judgement — to have been AI-generated, and to suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly publish such content. We are not obliged to prove how a piece of content was created before removing it.
You may not publish content that:
NSFW content. Mature content that is otherwise legal and permitted by these rules may be published, but it is only shown to users who have chosen to see NSFW stories in their settings. Deliberately publishing mature content in a way that evades this filter violates these Terms.
You can block users (which hides you from each other) and report stories that break these rules. We may review, remove, or restrict any content, and suspend or terminate any account, that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or the law. Where required by EU law (including the Digital Services Act), we will tell you the reason for a moderation decision and you may contact us at [email protected] to contest it.
Tips ("Support Crumbs") are voluntary contributions processed by Apple through the App Store. They are donations to support the app: they do not unlock features, content, or preferential treatment, and they are non-refundable except as required by law or by Apple's refund policies. Any refund requests must be made through Apple.
The Crumbs app, its design, name, and logo are ours or our licensors'. These Terms do not give you any right to use them except as needed to use the app normally.
Crumbs is distributed through the Apple App Store, and your use of the app must also comply with Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Crumbs and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Crumbs is provided "as is" and "as available". Stories are written by users; we do not endorse them and are not responsible for their content, though we moderate as described above.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data, or loss of profits arising from your use of Crumbs. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law — including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury, or your statutory rights as a consumer in the European Union.
You can stop using Crumbs and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially or repeatedly violate these Terms, or if we discontinue the service; where reasonably possible we will give you notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (including the promotional licence in Section 4 for materials already created, and Sections 9 and 11) survive termination.
We may update these Terms as Crumbs evolves. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use Crumbs after that constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the app and delete your account.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Hungary. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence, and you may bring disputes before the courts of that country. The European Commission's online dispute resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
If any provision of these Terms turns out to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remains in effect. These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between you and us about Crumbs. If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later. We may assign these Terms to a successor that continues operating Crumbs; you may not assign them.
